Forgetting English
Publication Party with Midge Raymond
One of San Diego Writers, Ink's own—author, teacher, former Board Vice President, and Volunteer Coordinator extraordinaire, Midge Raymond has just published her first book, Forgetting English, a collection of short stories, (Eastern Washington University Press) and she's returning to San Diego to celebrate with us. Join us as we welcome back Midge in an evening of reading, reunion, and good cheer.
Forgetting English won the Spokane Prize for Literature, and has received critical praise:
"Midge Raymond’s stories are a revelation and a delight ... Prepare yourself to think in Chinese, to start over, to reveal your worst crime and discover you are a stranger to yourself, born again into a world where all things become wondrous and new, terrifying and possible." — Melanie Rae Thon, author of First, Body and Sweet Hearts.
"Raymond’s eye for telling detail is very fine, as one expects of an accomplished writer, but to this she adds the informing eye of a natural historian of place.” — John Keeble, author of Nocturnal America
In addition to her collection of short stories, Midge Raymond's fiction has appeared in Ontario Review, Indiana Review, North American Review, Bellevue Literary Review, Passages North, the Los Angeles Times, and other publications. She is on the editorial board of the literary journal Green Hills Literary Lantern. Midge is co-founder of Metropolitan Writing Works and served on the board of directors of San Diego Writers, Ink. In February, she will lead workshops at the Southern California Writers Conference-San Diego.
