Collected Voices from The Ink Spot
SDWI's Instructor/Student Reading

  • Monday, March 22
  • 7 pm (Open mic signups start at 6:30 pm)
  • The Ink Spot

San Diego Writers, Ink is pleased to present the second in a series of an readings featuring instructors and students who have participated in classes and workshops at The Ink Spot.

Every week dozens of students and workshop paricipants gather around the tables at The Ink Spot to listen, to learn, to experiment, to explore, to write, and to share their work with one another and with their instructors. And while instructors who teach or lead workshops at SDWI have the opportunity to hear the work of those in their classes, seldom do the students get to hear the instructors read their own work. This reading series brings those voices together in a evening of works by SDWI instructors and their students.

Our second reading will feature instructors and Ted Gidonese and Tom Larson.

Students and workshop participants in all SDWI program offerings are invited to bring 3-5 minutes of your work and take part in the Open Mic Readings. You're encouraged to practice reading aloud and to time your readings so you don't exceed five minutes.

Jocelyn Hughes was one of the dozen or so students who read at our inaugural event Dec. 8. You can read her story here.

Ted Gideonse is the co-editor, with his husband Rob Williams, of From Boys to Men: Gay Men Write About Growing Up, which was a finalist for 2006 Lambda Literary Award for Best Anthology.
