San Diego Writers, Ink and Warwick's are pleased to collaborate in a the first of what we hope will become a literary and workshop series featuring an afternoon of reading and writing in the beautiful La Jolla Riford Library. Participants are invited to spend one and a half hours in a writing workshop, which will be followed by readings from authors whose work is featured in A Year in Ink, San Diego Writers, Ink's premiere anthology.

Page One: An Introduction to Fiction will explore the elements of good fiction - including character, dialogue, setting, and more - and you’ll see how these elements work together to create a good story. You’ll look at examples of well-told stories, and you will have a chance to put your own pen to paper with writing exercises designed to jump-start story ideas and reinforce good writing habits. Midge Raymond will lead the workshop.

Midge Raymond is the author of the short story collection Forgetting English (Eastern Washington University Press, 2008), which received the Spokane Prize for Fiction. Her award-winning stories have appeared in Bellevue Literary Review, Ontario Review, North American Review, the Los Angeles Times magazine, and other publications. Registration is required for this event. The $20 registration fee includes a copy of A Year In Ink, as well as all workshop materials.
