SDW, Ink's Anthology 08—A Year in Ink, Vol II

Call for Submissions

Submission Deadline August 1, 2008

We're pleased to announce the publication of our second anthology
A Year in Ink, Vol. II
with special guest editors:
Arthur Salm, Prose Editor
Sandra Alcosser, Poetry Editor

We're looking for San Diego's finest writing—stories, poems, creative nonfiction, essays, excerpts from novels or memoirs. Send us your wild, your imaginative, your most audacious, your most controlled—the yet-to-be published work you consider your best.

Not a San Diego Writers, Ink member? We'd love to have you join us, every membership helps support our nonprofit organization, and we wholeheartedly believe in the power and spirit of collegiality, but membership isn't a requirement for submission.

Submission Criteria:

Poetry: Submit up to five poems, single-spaced on plain paper in generic
font. Maximum 35 lines per poem.

Prose: Submit fiction, creative nonfiction, and memoir and novel excerpts,
double-spaced on plain paper in generic font. Maximum 3,000 words, no more than two entries.

All Entries: Submit four copies of unpublished work. Do NOT place your name on the actual entries. Manuscripts will be recycled. All entries must be postmarked by August 1, 2008. Send a cover letter with your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and title of each piece, along with an SASE. Submit to:

Arthur Salm served as Books Editor for the San Diego Union-Tribune for twenty years.

 

 

Sandra Alcosser has published seven books of poetry, including A FISH TO FEED ALL HUNGER and EXCEPT BY NATURE, which have been selected for the National Poetry Series, the Academy of American Poets James Laughlin Award, the Larry Levis Award, the Associated Writing Programs Award in Poetry, and the William Stafford Award from Pacific Northwest Booksellers. She is the National Endowment for the Arts’ first Conservation Poet for the Wildlife Conservation Society and Poets House, New York, as well as Montana’s first poet laureate and the 2006 recipient of the Merriam Award for Distinguished Contribution to Montana Literature . She founded and directs the Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing at San Diego State University each fall, and has directed SDSU’s International Writers Summer Program at National University of Ireland, Galway for three summers. In addition she is, or has been, a member of the faculty at University of Michigan, University of Montana, and Pacific University and a writer-in-residence in Glacier National Park, Yosemite National Park and Central Park, New York. She received two individual artist fellowships from NEA, and her poems have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Poetry  and the Pushcart Prize Anthology.
